The Apparel Export Promotion Council was incorporated u/s 25 of the Companies Act 1956 in 1978 with the prime objective of promoting and regulating the growth of Readymade Garments from India and to project India’s image as reliable suppliers of high quality readymade garments and services. In the year 1978 when the Council was established, the export of readymade garments from the country was merely Rs. 3380 millions, it has reached Rs. 214145 millions during 2001.

To help the exporters and simplify the procedures, the registration with the council has been decentralised. Accordingly, exporters may now submit the following documents as require in the Hand Book of procedure 2002-2007 for registration with any of our offices as mentioned in this booklet.

1. Application form duly filled. (as contained in this booklet)
2. RCMC in triplicate (as contained in this booklet)
3. Banker’s certificate in support of applicant’s financial soundness (Appendix A)
4. Photocopy of Importer Exporter Code No. alongwith a Copy of IE Code duly self attested or Notarised.
5. If the firm is a Registered/Member of any other Export Promotion Council, a copy of the RCMC issued by such other Export Promotion Council.
6. Undertaking on a non-judicial stamp paper as per-proforma given in Guidelines on Registration and Membership duly notarised. (Appendix B).
7. In case an exporter desires to get Registration as Manufacturer Exporter he shall furnish evidence to that effect. (Refer point No. 6 on regulations on registration)
8. If the firm is Super Star Trading House, Star Trading House, Trading House or Export House, a copy of certificate issued by concerned authority.
9. Duly certified Partnership Deed of the firm or Memorandum and Articles of Association in case of Private/Public Ltd. Company or Trust Deed/HUF Deed etc.

Now the Mumbai Regional Office of AEPC will register the exporters belonging to Western Region, Calcutta Regional Office will register the exporters from Eastern Region and Bangalore, Chennai and Tirupur Regional Offices will register the exporters belonging to their respective area in Southern Region.

The Council has prepared the guidelines on “Registration and Membership” to enable the new entrants to understand the procedure, rules and regulations and all relevant information at one place. These guidelines are intended to simplify the procedure for registration to speed up the processing of application to give registration expeditiously.
